The Viva Viagem is the universal entry ticket for all of Lisbon’s public transportation services.

Viva Viagem

The Viva Viagem Card is a reloadable paper tap card that allows you to travel on all public transportation routes in Lisbon. Cards can be purchased for €0.50 (non-refundable) and can be used in one of three ways:

Single Fare • €1.50

You can use your Viva Viagem card to travel on one single fare trip on metro, tram or bus. Keep in mind you’ll still need to pay the €0.50 for the card itself.

Day Pass • Varying Prices

There are three options when purchasing a day pass for your Viva Viagem Card. These options are priced differently depending on which transport methods you’d like to use during the day.

Metro, Bus, Tram and Funicular • €6.40
Metro, Bus, Tram, Funicular and Ferry • €9.50
Metro, Bus, Tram, Funicular and Train • €10.55

Zapping • Varying Prices

Zapping is the Viva Viagem terminology for pay-as-you-go. This is the most common use of the Viva Viagem cards as you can keep reloading your card when you run out of Euros. The minimum amount you can load onto your card when in Zapping mode is €3.00 up to a maximum of €40.00. When using a card in zapping mode, fare prices are as follows:

Metro: €1.33
Bus, Tram, Funicular: €1.35
Ferry: €1.19-€2.76 (depending on destination)
Train: €1.90 (to all stops within Cascais, Estoril and Sintra)
